Terms of Use

The short version

This box is a summary, not the agreement. If it conflicts with the text below, the text below wins.

• Spendo is a record-keeping tool, not an adviser. It gives no financial, tax, legal or accounting advice.
• The AI makes mistakes. Verifying what it read off a receipt is on you.
• Spendo Pro renews automatically. Unless you cancel, you are charged again at the end of the period; cancellations and refunds go through Apple.
• You can delete your account whenever you want. We may suspend accounts that break the rules.

1. Parties and acceptance

These terms form the agreement between Spendo, which provides the Spendo iOS app and the tryspendo.com website, and you as its user.

By installing the app and creating an account you accept these terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.

2. Your account

Creating an account requires Sign in with Apple; there is no separate password to set. The account is for your personal use.

• You are responsible for the security of the devices signed in to your account.
• You may not transfer, sell or share your account.
• You must be at least 13 years old; where your country sets a higher age, that limit applies.

3. What the service is, and the limits of the AI

Spendo is a personal expense tracker that uses AI to read a photo of your receipt and turn it into an expense record.

Spendo provides no financial, investment, tax, legal or accounting advice, and its records are not accounting books, tax filings or official documents. For those needs, consult a qualified professional.

Receipt reading and Spendo AI answers are generated automatically and can be wrong: an amount can be misread, an item skipped, a category missed, a currency mismatched. Checking your records and correcting them is your responsibility. Spendo is not liable for decisions you make on the basis of the totals, analytics or price comparisons it shows.

Spendo never connects to your bank and makes no payments; it processes only the receipts you give it and the data you enter.

4. Free use and quotas

The core of Spendo is free. Free use is subject to monthly scan and chat quotas and a limit on how far back your history is shown, which keeps server costs sustainable.

We may change quota levels as the economics of the service require. We will announce a change that lowers a quota in advance.

5. The Spendo Pro subscription

Spendo Pro unlocks your full history, product price tracking and higher quotas. It is sold entirely through the App Store; Spendo never sees or stores your payment details.

• Price is shown in the App Store at the moment of purchase and varies by country.
• Auto-renewal: the subscription renews by itself unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Billing: the renewal charge is taken by Apple within 24 hours before the period ends.
• Cancelling: manage and cancel any time in iOS Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period; Pro stays on until then.
• Refunds for App Store purchases are Apple’s decision and follow Apple’s refund policy. Spendo cannot issue them directly.
• Deleting your account does not end the subscription. To stop being charged you must also cancel it in the App Store.

Nothing in this section limits your statutory withdrawal or other consumer rights.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Upload personal data you have no right to — for example documents carrying someone else’s identity details
• Use the service for unlawful purposes or in ways that infringe the rights of others
• Reverse engineer the app or API, circumvent security measures, or attempt to reach other accounts’ data
• Send bulk automated requests, overload the system, or work around quotas
• Resell the service or present it as part of your own product without permission

7. The content you upload

Your receipt photos and expense data are yours. You do not transfer ownership of them to Spendo.

What you grant us is a limited licence to do what running the service requires: store the content, pass it to the AI provider so it can be read, and show it back to you. The licence is limited to providing the service and ends when you delete your account. We do not use your content in marketing.

The app itself, its interface, its brand and its source code belong to Spendo; these terms grant you no right to them.

8. Availability

We aim to keep Spendo running, but availability is not guaranteed: maintenance, infrastructure faults, third-party provider incidents or an unreachable AI provider can interrupt the service.

We may change, add or remove features. We will announce a change that materially restricts a paid feature in advance.

9. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is”, without implied warranties of fitness for a particular purpose, uninterrupted operation or freedom from error.

Spendo is not liable for indirect damages, lost profits, the consequences of decisions taken on a misread receipt, or losses caused by data you deleted yourself. Where we are liable, total liability is limited to the amount you paid Spendo in the 12 months before the damage occurred.

This section does not remove your statutory consumer rights. Liability for wilful misconduct, gross negligence, death and personal injury is unaffected in all cases.

10. Termination

You can request deletion at any time under Settings › Delete account; the process is described in the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms, endanger the security of the service or are used unlawfully. Where possible we will tell you first and give you reasonable time to export your data.

11. About Apple

Because the app is distributed through the App Store, the following also applies:

• This agreement is between you and Spendo, not Apple. Spendo alone is responsible for the app and its content.
• Apple has no obligation to furnish maintenance or support for the app. Support requests go to Spendo.
• If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, Apple’s liability is limited to refunding the purchase price; any claim beyond that is directed to Spendo.
• Spendo is responsible for defending claims that the app infringes a third party’s intellectual property rights.
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced in the app; continuing to use Spendo after the announcement means you accept the new version. If you do not, you can delete your account.

13. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, and the courts and enforcement offices of Türkiye have jurisdiction.

If you use Spendo as a consumer, the mandatory rights and competent forums granted to you by the consumer law of your country of residence are unaffected.
